Children who have
been neglected by parents through addiction, mental illness, or
abandonment, forever seek to know “what to do” in almost every
situation • They were violated as children, no one has ever been
there for them, and new people in their lives are seen as those
who will eventually abandon them, again • Linda is a middle aged
woman who looks back to the extreme isolation and caretaking of
younger siblings in her childhood • She recounts the stories of
thunderstorms, FAE effects to her siblings, and giving up her
childhood to protect and provide where the father neglected them
